It kicks off ISTE's annual technical extravaganza, introducing ISTE to the freshers.
NIT Hamirpur hosted the 1st ever National Indian Students Forum on Engineering Education themed at ”Nurturing Leadership” in the Young minds from 31stMarch – 3rd April. In this weeklong workshop-cum-conference, the 3 stakeholders of Engineering Education (EE),viz., industry, academia and students came together to discuss the latest technological trends, curriculum provided and direct feedback from students to improve the current EE in India. The NISF was on the lines of Global Student Forums that have taken place at Istanbul, Cape Town and Bhubaneshwar. The students discussed issues related to the current Engineering Education and thereafter with a close interaction with the Industrialists, came up with vigorous solutions. This event also aimed at honing the leadership skills in Students and preparing them with right Industrial skills. The last day was honoured by a guest lecture on by HIs Holiness Dalai Lama.
NIT Hamirpur had the honour and privilege to be empaneled as a host to the 11th ISTE Student’s Annual Convention in the year 2008. It was held in the autumn of October on the 11th and 12th days of the month, with a theme –“Skill Set Development and Employability of Students in Technical Education.” This was backed by six sub themes which enabled students to prove their technical and cultural prowess. The convention witnessed the participation of about 200 students representing their institutes from all over the nation. It served the motive of interactive awareness among all the participants in the era of professionalism and technical education. The convention held at NIT Hamirpur had an efficaciously versatile character, self evident in the course of events that were organized during the two days by the ISTE Student’s chapter of the Institute
Carrying forward the idea of grooming the overall personality of the students, ISTE organised the SPELL-BEE where their 'word-power' was tested.
It’s the most awaited event that’s completely one of its kind. It gives the students a practical as well as technical bent of mind. The teams are asked to make models on some real world problem and then the teams compete against each other.
It is another addition to ISTE’s list of successful events. It is a weekly event where we float mind- boggling puzzles, captions, etc. for the students. Its actually a race against time as the quickest with accuracy grabs the prize.
