Cadets are mostly trained in the college campus by the P.I. Staffs. Depending upon ypes of activities, viz., boat pulling, sailing, swimming
The basic knowledge are imparted to Cadets as a part of institutional training. This is the most important aspect of NCC Training and hence, great emphasis is given on institutional training. For this purpose, C.I. at Unit level comes to college on behalf of Group HQ (Shimla).
Following trainings are given to the cadets in the college:-
Drill. Cadets are made to understand the aim and purpose of drill, so that they are motivated. Emphasis is laid on correct bearing, marching, saluting and arms drill.
Weapon Training. Cadets generally take keen interest in weapon training and firing. The Unit liaises with nearby Para-Military Units to ensure that all our cadets get an opportunity to fire. Use of firing simulator is made to optimize training efforts.
Adventurous activities have been incorporated in NCC training with the aim of inculcating and strengthening leadership traits amongst the Cadets. These activities in NCC are broadly divided into the following:-
1.Mountaineering: There are three premier mountaineering institutes where cadets undergo mountaineering courses
viz., Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi,
Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling and
Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali.
Vacancies on various courses are allotted every year to NCC. These are further sub-allotted to various Directorates based on their demand/ strength.
2. Sailing Expedition: Sailing Expedition is an interesting feature of the Naval Training. During Sailing Expeditions (which is conducted at Govind Sagar Lake), our cadets get practical exposure in Boat Pulling and Sailing. They learn to survive at sea and overcome the vagaries of the weather.
546 Parasails are held with various Directorates of NCC. Regular launches are carried out by the Directorates. 20 SD/SW cadets take part in PM's Rally every year.
4.Trekking: A total of ten All India Treks are conducted every year i.e. three for girls and seven for boys and most of our cadets take part in it.
