Sweep Frequency Response Analyser      

*Name of the Equipment: Sweep Frequency Response Analyzer (SFRA)
Application:  It detects mechanical failure or movement of transformer core or windings due to short circuits, mechanical stresses or transportation.
Principle of Operation: The instrument automatically sweeps the object under test with sinusoidal voltages over a wide range (10 Hz to 10 MHz) and measures its response. Thereafter, it is compared to baseline and results available from other similar units. A built-in analysis and display package enables diagnosis in respect of the mechanical integrity of the core & winding.

        Oil Test Set                

*Name of the Equipment: Insulating Oil Test Set
Application: It measures the dielectric strength of transformer oil as  per IS- 1866(83). A low value for the dielectric breakdown voltage generally serves to indicate the presence of contaminants such as water, dirt or other conducting particles in the oil.
Principle of Operation: It consists of three main parts
1. Oil Testing Cell
2. H.T. Transformer
3. Control Cables
Supply Voltage 230V / 50Hz are transformed into a high voltage by HT transformer. HT side of transformer is connected to electrodes arranged in oil test cell. The voltage is increased in steps till the spark between the electrodes occurs. The result can be viewed on three LCD display or can be printed as a hard copy. In auto modes it takes the average six readings.

*Name of the Equipment: Automatic Capacitance and Tan Delta Test Set
Application: It measures Capacitance, Dielectric Constant, Tan Delta and Resistivity of insulating medium. Though specifically designed for testing oil and other dielectric fluids, it can be used to test other insulating media, provided a suitable test fixture is available. The instrument is fully automatic and microprocessor controlled.
Principle of operation:
The instrument basically makes measurement for resistance, capacitance and dissipation factor.
The resistance measurement is accomplished by using semiconductor junction that converts the current from the sample into a voltage with logarithmic compliance.
The capacitance measuring circuit uses a transformer ratio-arm bridge to compare the unknown capacitance sample to a reference capacitor. The inherent characteristics of the transformer ratio arm bridge allow convenient three terminal measurements to be made.

                  Moisture Test Set            
* Name of Equipment: Moisture in Oil – Test Sensor
Application: It measures the water content in transformer oil. It is configured to display the following quantities:
1. Relative saturation in percentage (0 to 100 %)
2. Temperature (-40 to 180 deg. Celsius)
3. Parts Per Million (mg per kg)
Principle of Operation: It comprises of a stainless steel probe and a probe cable to connect the probe to transmitter/ display
  • Steel probe houses the moisture and temperature sensors and can be installed on any valve of size 15mm or larger.
  • Moisture censor works on the principle of change in the capacitance due to the change in permittivity due to the presence of moisture.

Specification:
Sensors are robust and can withstand pressure from vacuum to 280 Pascal and temperature up to 180 deg. Celsius. Its calibration is stable and accuracy is ±1%.

Application: Provides advance warning of developing faults in transformer. Its use can be extended to other oil filled equipments such as tap changers and circuit breakers. Even gas samples taken from Bucholtz relay can also be tested. The equipment analyses the concentration of the degradation product in the form of gases: H2, CH4, C2H2, C2H4, C2H6, CO, CO2.
Principle of Operation: It uses photo acoustic spectroscopy to achieve unprecedental performance for DGA equipment.
